On Thursday, 16th May 2019, the Inter House English Drama Competition was held for classes I-V. The theme of the competition was Father’s Day, to recognize and reflect on just how much our fathers contribute to our lives. The students of all the four houses beautifully presented fathers as pillars of strength, support and discipline.

The first play of the competition ‘Love You Father’ was presented by Bose House and showcased how for fathers of today, gender does not determine the division of labour at home. Apart from providing for the family, fathers are also parenting partners and take equal responsibility for their home.

To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors. Presenting this, we had Tilak House next with their play ‘The Wooden Bowl’. They highlighted the importance of spending time with our fathers because one day, when we look up from our phones, they won’t be there anymore.

Being a father isn’t easy, especially nowadays. A father makes sure that his family’s needs are addressed across the board and looks for ways to provide for his family financially, even when it is hard to. Exhibiting this, we had Tagore House next, with their play ‘Fathers’.

Presenting Nachiket’s tale, we had Shastri House ending the competition with their play ‘Nachiket’ depicting Nachiket as a dutiful son, as a son who braved all odds to win back the affection of his father.

Tilak House was adjudged the winner of the competition, followed by Shastri, Tagore and Bose House. Mrs Ayushi Sharma, Director, AIS Pilkhuwa, addressed the students about the importance of fathers, how their work is endless and often at times, thankless. And how in the end, it shows in the sound, well-adjusted children they raise. The competition ended with the National Anthem.
